Students sit at their desks enjoying bologna sandwiches and potato chips

How do YOU spell bologna? The students in Mrs. Karla Vonkoenig's 4th grade North School classroom can all spell it correctly, thanks to a fun and creative activity that she has shared with her students annually for at least 15 years.

Students love watching the Old Oscar Mayer b-o-l-o-g-n-a television advertisement and have a blast singing the bologna song.

Students also write instructions for how to make a bologna sandwich.  It's really fun when Mrs. Vonkoening starts making the sandwiches following those directions, as invariably a step or two is missing!

And the best part -- eating the bologna sandwiches (or a pb&j option) is even more fun than spelling it!
