Please take a moment to remember the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with me.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday in the United States, celebrated every year on the third Monday of January to honor the life and legacy of civil rights leader Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It’s a day that celebrates the life and legacy of a man who brought hope and healing to America.
As we remember Martin Luther King Jr., let’s remember the powerful message of racial equality and justice that he left for us, and strive to make a positive impact in our own community and school.
Although we can experience different problems that can cause frustration and anger that should not prevent us from recognizing and addressing issues of racism and depriving any group of people of their legal rights. This is not a matter of choice or priority – it is a necessary step towards justice and equality.
Martin Luther King Jr. fought for the rights and dignity of all people, and his legacy inspires us to continue working towards a more just and equitable world. By honoring his memory and ideals, we can reaffirm our commitment to creating a better future for all.
Addressing racial disparities and injustices is an ongoing process that requires sustained effort and commitment. Let’s use our remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr. as an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to justice and equality for all. Thank you.
At this time we ask you to stand. The privilege of this day was made possible by those who have fought and continue to fight for the freedoms that we enjoy. Let us respect and honor their efforts by standing, placing our hands on our hearts, and reciting the pledge of allegiance. If you are wearing a hat, please remove it. I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Those are all of our announcements for today.

Students in Advanced Art just completed a project centered on the expressive power of line. The process began with listening to music and translating its rhythms and emotions into lines. We then explored examples of line in African art and examined how 20th-century artists like Paul Klee and Picasso were influenced by these African line works. For their final piece, each student chose an animal as their subject and was required to incorporate at least 10 different motifs, while using both positive and negative space to create depth.
