WATERVLIET HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY SOCCER Varsity Soccer beats Coloma 3 - 0 to make it 3 away wins in row Monday, April 15, 2024 6:00 PM Watervliet High School @ Coloma High School AWAY HOME 3 0 Game Recap Lady Panthers went away to Coloma on a beautiful Monday afternoon and once again came out victorious to make it three away wins in a row. The first-half was tightly contested and we missed to convert on several opportunities in front of goal. Heading into halftime 0-0. Despite the goalless first-half, the team picked up the momentum and started creating more chances in front of goal. In the 56th min, Courtney Van Lente broke the deadlock when she swiftly got passed three Coloma defenders who in spite of fouling her on the way to goal were no match for her strength as she put her shot right past the goalie to make 1-0. Minutes later, Riley Preston gave a wonderful assist to Courtney, who once again found the back of the net with a left-footed shot. In the 67th minute, Alyssa Brown sealed the victory with impeccable right-footed shot via a Courtney pass that made it 3-0. The defense composed of Anslie Saylor, Alexis Hoadley and Morgan Lowell played a big part in keeping the shots on goal to a minimum and helping Chelsea Lange obtain her second clean-sheet of the season. Come out and support as we take on Schoolcraft this Friday at 5pm.

WATERVLIET HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY SOCCER Girls Varsity Soccer beats Parchment 5 - 2 Wednesday, April 10, 2024 6:00 PM Watervliet High School @ Parchment Game Recap Girl's Varsity Soccer opened up the 2024 Season on the road with a stellar win over Parchment 5-2. Game started off slow but quicky picked up momentum. First goal came off a corner-kick taken by Courtney Van Lente that was put away in the back of the net by Natalaya Desjardin. Courtney came up with her second assist of the night via another corner-kick, this time being scored by Natalie Van Lente. Minutes later, Anslie Saylor took control of a loose ball on the right side of field which she took past her defender and hit a shot from about 30 yards away that went straight between Parchment's goalie into the net. Taking Watervliet 3-0 at halftime. In the second half, the team started off slow and Parchment was able to score a quick goal. However, the team quickly got back into rhythm and Natalie Van Lente scored her second goal of the night after a stolen pass that she dribbled past two defenders and finished it off past the goalkeeper. The team kept applying pressure which allowed Allyssa Brown to gain control of another loose ball in front of Parchment's net which she placed right in front of Vicky Mandujano who rushed to tap it in for the fifth and final goal for Watervliet on the night. Emma Ferguson and Riley Preston played vital roles in controlling the midfield which allowed the team to have possession of the ball throughout the game. Julie Rudell had three important saves in the second half that kept Parchment from getting back into the game. The team will look to continue to improve on tonight's stellar performance as they travel away this Friday, against Covert at 5pm.
