Panther Families: Due to adverse road conditions, WPS is canceling all PM activities tonight, January 22nd. It is predicted that the ice will let up around 6 PM, but come back in the early morning tomorrow. We await an update from the National Weather Service late afternoon before making a call regarding school attendance tomorrow. Please consider having a backup plan for kiddos for tomorrow as we will not know until late this evening what our plans for tomorrow will be. Please be on the alert for an all-call or text with additional information. Go Panthers, Ric Seager

Sign ups are this week and next week, and the first informational meeting will be Monday, January 29 from 3:15 to 4:30 in Mrs. Sargeant’s room." If you are dual enrolled next semester, you are required to attend a mandatory dual enrollment meeting NEXT Monday. The meeting was moved to NEXT Monday due to the snow days. Tutors are needed for Algebra and Geometry. If you are interested in tutoring, please see Mrs. Dawson. THIS Friday is our first FAFSA Friday. Any senior who has a FAFSA completed by this Friday will be recognized and rewarded with a $50 visa gift card. THIS WEDNESDAY is an early release Wednesday. It is also the first day of semester 2. We will dismiss at 1:10. You can wear pajamas. THIS WEDNESDAY is also the next SAC meeting. Representative students are asked to please attend. There is a very important senior parent meeting this Wednesday at 6 pm. Senior parents are encouraged to attend. The Watervliet Boys' Basketball team resumed conference and divisional play on Friday evening with a trip to nearby Coloma to take on The Comets. The Panthers used a stifling first-half defensive and rebounding effort to take a commanding lead over Coloma and battled aggressively the rest of the way and secured the victory 57-36. The Panthers return home on Wednesday night to play Niles Brandywine in a make-up game that was originally scheduled to be played this past Monday at Brandywine. The game at Watervliet Gym is at 7:00 on Wednesday night. The Lady Panthers raced out to a 14 - 5 first quarter lead and never looked back-beating Coloma 47 - 16. The Lady Panthers had three players score in double digits. Chisek led with 17, Cladwell and Laws added 10 each. The Lady Panthers host Fennville next Friday and travel to Bridgman on Saturday for two more SAC Lakeshore divisional games. At this time we ask you to stand. The privilege of this day was made possible by those who have fought and continue to fight for the freedoms that we enjoy. Let us respect and honor their efforts by standing, placing our hands on our hearts and reciting the pledge of allegiance. If you are wearing a hat, please remove it. I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Those are all of our announcements for today. Make it a great day or not Panthers, the choice is yours!

Students in Art I spend a good portion of the second marking period learning how to work with acrylic paint. Their final challenge of the unit was to show their mastery with a free choice painting project. Here are a few of the many beautiful paintings they created.
