WHS CHOIRS EARN DIVISION 1 RATINGS!
On Wednesday, February 28, 2024 the Watervliet Treble Choir and the Watervliet
Concert Choir participated in the MSVMA District 6 Choral Festival. The festival was
held at The Chapel, in St. Joseph, Michigan.
Each choir was given a score for their performance as well as their sight reading ability.
Both choirs received wonderful comments from the judges for their amazing discipline,
dedication, and their beautiful tone and blend.
They earned Division 1 ratings (the highest possible rating) qualifying them for State
Festival and they represented our choral program, school, and community with great
Panther Pride!
CONGRATULATIONS, CHOIRS!!
No students are permitted to be in the building after school unless you are with a coach or a teacher. If you are found in the building after school, you will be consequenced. If you are waiting for a ride, you must be waiting at the doors of the building.

Anyone who submitted an Early Middle College application should have received an interview invitation to their personal email address last week. The deadline to respond to this invitation is Friday. If you cannot locate your invitation, please see Mrs. Dawson.

This week, students from WHS's art program received exciting news that their artwork has been selected for the prestigious Kalamazoo Institute of Art High School Show. This competitive juried exhibition attracts submissions from numerous talented artists across nine counties in Southwest Michigan. A big congratulations is in order for the following students: Angelica Daisy, Nicole Bender, Hailey Hutchens, Taylor Green, Claire Moore, Hector M. Salguero, Addison Smith, Lyvia Summers, Natalie VanLente, and Susannah Weckworth, each having one piece accepted. Additionally, Riley Preston had the exceptional achievement of having two works accepted. This is the highest number WHS has ever had accepted! The selected artworks will soon be delivered to the gallery for display. The juror awards are scheduled to take place during the opening reception at the KIA on Friday, March 29, starting at 6:00 pm. Hats off to these students for showcasing Watervliet's artistic talent!

The Lady Panthers traveled to ML Tuesday night and played one of its best defensive halves of the season holding ML to just 8 points and three baskets.
The Lady Panthers struggled to adjust on defense giving up sixteen 4th quarter points and a three at the buzzer to hold on to a 36 - 34 road win.
Three Lady Panthers scored in double figures led by Lauren Laws 13, Abby Whortons 11, and Ellie Goldens 10.

The Lady Panther closed out their home season with a 42 - 25 victory over the visiting Comets.

On Friday night in Panther gym, the Boys' Basketball Team took on Coloma in a divisional match-up in front of a large and boisterous Winterfest crowd. The Panthers put together four solid quarters of basketball on their way to a 56-38 victory over The Comets. Watervliet begins state tournament District action on Wednesday at Bangor against the winner of the Bangor-Coloma game. The Watervliet game begins at 7:00p.m.

Sign-ups for track and field are in Mr. Corkin’s and Mrs. Riedinger’s room. Pre-season conditioning for track and field has started! Join the team on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the cafeteria lobby at 3:15!
Winterfest Dance is tonight following the varsity boys basketball game in the MS gym. Admission is $5.00 per person at the door. Students may NOT walk through the building to the MS gym. You must enter through the front doors of the MS building. Students who pose any issue or concern during the dance, will be asked to leave. Please plan to be on your best behavior.

On Tuesday night, The Panthers Boys' Basketball Team returned to Watervliet Gym for a Non-Divisional match-up with The Kalamazoo Christian Comets. The Panthers showed relentless hustle and energy right from the gate and jumped out to an early lead that was never relinquished. The final score was 56-37 in favor of The Panthers. Watervliet returns to action at home on Friday night at 7:30 against Coloma.
The Lady Panthers had less than 24 hours to get ready to play after a loss Tuesday night in Kalamazoo as they traveled to Martin Wednesday to make up an earlier snow date with the Clippers. Trailing at the half 21 - 15, the Lady Panthers fought for every possession on the defensive end, and found multiple ways to score on the offensive end and found a way to bring home a victory over the host Martin Clippers 42 - 40. Great effort and grit, Ladies. Friday night will be the last home game of the season as the Panthers host the Comets of Coloma. 6:00 start.
Today’s PBIS winners are Sam Milham, Daijahnae Hatcher, and Gabriel Shotts. Please come to the office now and pick up your prize or stop in the office before 3rd hour.
We need more student sign ups for Friday’s assembly games. You have been emailed a sign up. You can sign up for as many games as you want. If students do not sign up, we will not be able to hold the games on Friday. Check your email and sign up for a game.
Any senior at school on Friday who has completed the FAFSA will have a chance at the start of the assembly games to pie the teacher of your choice, If you have completed your FAFSA, please share the evidence with Mr. Coburn so that you can participate on Friday.
